space cleaning of __pycache__ directories

Running pytest usually leaves __pycache__ folders. Outside the scope of a .gitignore file to not consider them when staging edits, I wonder if there is a better (automatic?) approach than to cd to them and then launch a rm -f __pycache__. Among the flags displayed by pytest -h, I failed to identify one which would request pytest to remove them after the checks; yet, could this be an option to be proposed as an addition equally useful for other users?

This isn't really specific to pytest, importing your files in Python will also create those. Any solution that works for those will work here too. They shouldn't really use a lot of space though.

Back when pytest was still part of pylib there was the py.cleanup comman that implemented pyc deletion

@The-Compiler I agree the eventual appearance of the __pycache__ directories isn't an issue specific to pytest. From the link shared by you, I opted for pyclean an answer by 2015 of the SO page describes with (possibly then used, now changed name) py3clean. It does address the problem now solved. Thank you.

@RonnyPfannschmidt pyclean has shown to be helpful for me in PubChemPy. Neither the current upstream version, nor my fork currently include a .gitignore file. Yet the edit the "rule" of remove_all_but_the_badges: in my Makefile with an additional line of pyclean . can offer the wanted somewhat automated lint in the course of local checks with pytest/local generation of e.g., a coverage badge. The corresponding edits are comitted.
