🐛 Autoconnect unreliable in latest versions (regression)

Description

In the version from ~2 releases ago (when autoconnect + automatic device discovery was introduced), the feature worked flawlessly. The connection was stable across:

• App restarts
• System shutdowns and reboots
• Leaving and re-entering network range

The device would reconnect automatically every time without any issues.

However, in the last 2 releases, this behavior has regressed significantly.

Current Behavior

• Autoconnect works inconsistently (mostly fails)
• Requires manual connection to the phone
• Often needs multiple attempts before successfully connecting
• Connection drops randomly even after successful pairing

Expected Behavior

• Seamless automatic reconnection (as seen in earlier version)
• Stable connection without frequent drops
• No need for manual intervention

• Phone: Samsung S25 (One UI 8.0)
• App Version (Android): v3.0.0
• Desktop App: AirSync macOS v3.0.0
• Device: MacBook Air M4
• macOS Version: Latest available

Impact

This significantly affects usability since one of the core conveniences (automatic reconnection) is no longer reliable.

I experience the same on my Pixel 9 Pro.
Initially it always worked well, then around a month ago it started to hog the battery enormously trying to reconnect. And since around 2 weeks the battery usage is better, but automatic reconnecting often fails.
FYI: I do have tailscale enabled and set-up as preferred address to connect on.

Hi! As @mfonville I was dealing with some excessive power usage due to the device discovery feature. In the last update, I did some optimization in these areas also to follow Android recommendations to lean less on background services but now that I am finding out that it is not reliable to leave the Android OS to manage it as it often kills the app.

And also I have also noticed the mac app getting stuck on restarting server state but I was thinking of it as an edge case as my network used to be heavily unstable and switching between as well.. Now I upgraded to a much stable network and I have not yet experience it. Let me know if you guys experience such issue.

Sorry for the delay as I took a week or so away for my studies and now I'm back and will be fully dedicating for improvement by the end of next week. I'll look for improvements and thanks for the feedback! <3
