Please add shadow to a translation platform

Hello,

the fact that translations for the "shadow" user interface and manual pages reach the project sporadically rather than regularly is likely due to the fact that these .po files are not published on a central translation platform.

Since these are command-line tools, publishing them via the GNU Translation Project would be ideal. There is some information for maintainers available. At GNU TP, the most basic command line tools are translated, so you might expect very experienced translators.

Hmm, thanks! When we do the next pre-release (-rc), I'll try to remember and try sending you the POT file. If I find any issues when trying that, I'll let you know.

Maybe it's not a GNU project in common sense, neither hosted on Savannah nor mentioned by the GNU folks anywhere, AFAIK. But lots of basic GNU tools, like coreutils, diffutils, bison, gcc, parted etc. are translated there.

Self-correction: I've only been able to update the pot file for the source code, but not for the manual pages.

In fact,you don't have to send anything directly to the translators. Contact the TP coordinator first, as described in the maintainers docs. Once the TP domains for shadow and shadow-man has been set up, you need only to send a pre-release tarball, containing up-to-date .pot files, that's all. The TP robot merges the existing files with the current templates and sends the merged files to the respective mailing lists.
