Notification not updating

I've recently noticed issues with the notification not updating, even after steps have been taken. If you then open the app via the notification, it sometimes causes the app to briefly display the correct number and then jump back to the incorrect value. To fix this, it's usually enough to close the app, clear the cache, and restart the app. Sometimes, however, the notification only shows the steps taken at the time of the restart but doesn’t update anymore.

I haven’t been able to identify a clear pattern yet as to when the error occurs. That’s why, unfortunately, I was only able to document one of the described errors today.

To be honest, it doesn't feel like it's gotten better. In fact, it feels like it's gotten worse...

For one thing, I can no longer open the app by tapping the notification. Also, while the notification usually updates after I open the app, it eventually stops doing so.
The same goes for the app itself: after (re)starting the app, the old value is shown. Then I close the window and when the notification gets active, I open the app and it displays the correct steps. But as soon as the notification stops updating, nothing happens in the app either.

To fix this, I have to force quit and reopen the app. As soon as the notification is active again, the steps—including those taken while the app was frozen—are displayed correctly once more, until the cycle repeats.

Can confirm this issue. The notification / app doesn't update the counter even though the steps are recorded. I have to force close the app and open it again for the number to update.

Also can't open the app by pressing the notification.

(S22 ultra - unrestricted battery but Samsung has notoriously aggressive battery optimization)
