Github rate limits are hit very quickly - can query results be cached?

I've added several queries to my space and while testing out some template ideas, I hit the rate limit very quickly. It seems that the query is re-triggered whenever the page is loaded and, possibly (although not confirmed) whenever you change your focus.

In any case, I'm curious if this is something you've run into or have any suggestions on mitigating.
