Tool overload?

Yarn, lerna, grunt, gulp, webpack? I am curious why so much overlap...

Hey Karl, Sorry I left so much noise in there. I'll get rid of it and thanks for the feedback. Both gulp and grunt aren't necessary for this example. I work for a multi-billion dollar corporation and the source for this was written by 5 teams and 70-80 developers - and it has evolved over the last few years. So over time you have different groups with different ideas and junk gets in there. It's my fault or not cleaning it up. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any other thoughts. That is good to hear, I figured it was something akin to that, but wanted to make sure. I actually want to take this and remove the lerna dependency too for my project, I'll be sure to make that initial conversion directly available as well when I do (unless that is also part of your cleanup? :D )

As for my name, yes, very German, I come from a pretty solid line of German names, grew up in a German farming community in Texas. However my mom was the first in her family to not learn the language fluently, so my generation learned none :( Growing up in an area where the schools did not have the resources to offer multiple foreign languages, so we got the pleasure of learning a bit of Spanish in my youth instead (mostly forgotten at this point).

Cool, I'm from Texas too...San Antonio. New Braunsfels by chance? My son will be the 1st generation that loses his German. :) Just to let you know, the the lerna stuff is in there if you have a reason to publish out your elements separately. The babel and react folks use it because they want to decompose their libraries so people can just install the parts that they want. i.e. You've written a library of 50 polymer elements that all can be installed separately. In our corporation every sprint we have to make a release branch, using continuous integration and then run that release branch through test. Now imagine having 50 elements and each having its own git repo, and then having 50 jenkins jobs and 50 release branches for a developer to switch to. It's a hassle - and that is what lerna solves. Of course none of this is needed if you aren't trying to develop a library of elements and node modules that people can use. Regards, Eric

I actually grew up in the Burton / Round Top / Carmine area. Middle of no wheres. :) Currently living in North Austin.

As for lerna, yeah we aren't releasing anything for consumption, just working on an web app. So I guess its safe to ignore that if its not directly tied to the build/deployment code :)

That's awesome. My dad and Grandpa were born in West Point, and we own some land in La Grange. Not too far away. :) Nice chatting with ya.
