Since 2017 I've been working on Ucupaint, a free and open source Blender addon that can help you a lot with the material creation. As for September 2025, Ucupaint has been downloaded almost 200k across the Blender Extension Platform and GitHub, and the number is still going up!

You can check out my plans on the roadmap. I really want to help level up the open‑source texturing ecosystem. Sponsors also get Ucupaint Plus with extra features, and if funding goes well, those features will be gradually released to everyone. 🙏

If we reach this goal, I'll start implementing sync functions, starting with the PSD file, so editing/adding/removing layers in Photoshop or any 2D app will also update your layer setup in ucupaint.
