Broken hashtags generated with apostrophe

I'm using feed2toot to publish news articles to my mastodon instance and another user noticed what may be a bug or possibly an enhancement. in this post There appears a hashtag with an apostrophe in it, which seems to break the link. Maybe special characters should be stripped from hash tags?

NOTE: I since edited the post to remove the apostrophe, but you can see the original text by clicking on the "edited" footer in the post.

looks like the code already tries to strip apotrophes specifically... maybe it's a UTF-8 character or something? hmm...
