Increasing the versatility of this library #8

Hi @theblitz, @jcogilvie

Great thanks for taking the labor of laying down this fantastic library. I see that quite a number of Githubers have forked it for their projects. I did too.

I noticed that the library, while doing very well in its primary use case (i.e., in UI viewmodels), can have improvements to make it more versatile. This would be very beneficial for adopting the library by even more users.

I am one of such users - my use case extends slightly beyond the viewmodels - hence I had to enhance it in my fork. This worked out well; seeng it as a successful proof-of-concept, I suggest adopting those improvements here - for the benefit of all.

Please let me know if you're interested in this. If you are, I shall elaborate the scope in more details.

If we then decide to proceed, I'll be preparing pull requests and you'll be reviewing. I don't expect much workload on your end, as I already did all the heavy lifting in my fork.

BR,
John
