not getting pairing code

Im trying to setup a TRMNL to timescale.
I can connect to the core TRMNL app, and when I reset it and go to connect to timescale, it wont provide a pairing code so I cant go any further.

I am suspecting its because I am using HTTPS rather than HTTP, but not 100% sure.
It could also be because Im using HA in a docker on unraid.

before I start trying 101 things out, any thoughts on what might be causing the problem.

I removed the HA being on HTTPS problem persists.

Then in the configuration I've found a problem...
in the HA app, the following instructions are give...
During TRMNL WiFi setup, tap Advanced > Custom Server > Yes and enter http://192.168.1.64:8123/api as the API server URL. The device will register and display a pairing code. [Learn more](https://help.trmnl.com/en/articles/12263392-connect-your-device-to-terminus-byos)
and the address gives a 404 error.
going to timeframe from outside of HA and using the 8099 port, you get a different response going to the config screen but with different instructions.

I tried using this server address but didnt work. Similar error, it looks like your code saying page doesnt exist and has moved.

Guess I need to read your code to see where the API sits to see why Im not connecting to it.

Can you try omitting /api and seeing if that works for you? It did for me.

didnt say I was using a TRMNL OG (dev license edition), with latest f/w
it comes back with message now saying

WIFI connected, but API connection cannot be established. Try to refresh or scan QR Code for help

Whereas with the xxxxx/API it just was the 7 spoke petal in centre screen and no message.
It just appears to not find the API server.
I did uninstall and reinstall but that didnt fix things.
Is there a simple way to ping the API server to see if its visible? Obviously the HA server is visible I can go to port 8099 and see the add device screen.
Just wondered if I've missed something in the overall process?

just reset to use the /api and shut down HA.
Get the error...

WIFI connected, /api/setup returned error. Short click button on back, otherwise check internet.

so the device is looking the the page, but something is causing the server not to respond.

OK Im moving from bad to worse!!!
I uninstalled timeframe and then went to reinstall it.
Wont install and get an error.

whoop whoop it work!!!!
Went through gave the pairing code and is all happy now.
Gonna start playing with it as I have similar requirements to you and dont want a dashboard my wife has to scan, but just tells her relevant things!
loved the video interview you did with smart home solver btw.
