./setup.py fails with passlib error

I'm not sure if I'm doing this right but after installing the listed dependencies, setup is failing with:

  File "src/virtBootstrap/utils.py", line 37, in <module>
    import passlib.hosts
ImportError: No module named passlib.hosts

I installed both python2-passlib & python3-passlib (both 1.7.2-1.3)

python3 -c 'import passlib.hosts works for me on Fedora 32 with passlib 1.7.2 from pip. Can you try python3 -c 'import passlib; print(passlib)' to ensure you aren't pulling passlib module from some old stale path. Are you using python2 or python3?

The same happens to me on nixos 20.03. The python shell successfully imports /nix/store/pzz7lyy6846k09lr75r3r3l6sgkcy0kg-python3.7-passlib-1.7.2/lib/python3.7/site-packages/passlib/__init__.py but running it yields ImportError: No module named passlib.hosts.

Installation of python-passlib package (through package manager, not from pip) worked for me.

Getting this issue on Arch linux. Tried installing through pacman and pip. Both fail with the same error:

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'passlib'

python3 -c 'import passlib; print(passlib)'
