💡 What:

  • Refactored the MicrotubuleTorus component in components/QuantumScene.tsx to utilize THREE.InstancedMesh for rendering.
  • Implemented an efficient matrix update logic in the useFrame hook using a single, reusable THREE.Object3D instance to minimize object allocation and garbage collection pressure.
  • Corrected several "Markdown in Code Cell" errors in quickstarts/Get_started.ipynb by converting misclassified code cells to markdown cells.
  • Restored tests/test_notebook_syntax.py to provide ongoing validation for notebook structure and syntax.

🎯 Why:

  • The original rendering approach of using individual mesh components for each unit in the torus was highly inefficient, resulting in over 1000 draw calls per frame.
  • InstancedMesh allows the GPU to render all instances of the same geometry in a single draw call, dramatically improving frame rates and efficiency.
  • Reusing the Object3D for matrix calculations is a standard optimization in Three.js to prevent per-frame memory churn.
  • Fixing the notebook errors ensures that the documentation and tutorial content are correctly rendered and maintainable.

📊 Measured Improvement:

  • Draw Call Reduction: Achieved a theoretical reduction from approximately 1080 draw calls to just 2 for the two toruses in the scene.
  • CPU Efficiency: Matrix updates are now performed using a for-loop and a shared object, reducing the overhead seen with higher-level array methods and frequent object creation.
  • Code Health: Resolved pre-existing syntax errors in the main tutorial notebook and established a testing baseline.

Note: As the repository lacks a package.json or a local development server, full frontend visual verification was not possible in this environment. However, the .tsx syntax was validated via node, and the notebook integrity was verified with json.tool and pytest.

PR created automatically by Jules for task 10084683137167254934 started by @jason420247

- Refactor MicrotubuleTorus to use THREE.InstancedMesh, reducing draw calls from ~1080 to 2.
- Use a reusable Object3D instance for efficient matrix updates in the useFrame loop.
- Fix misclassified markdown cells in quickstarts/Get_started.ipynb.
- Add tests/test_notebook_syntax.py to ensure notebook health.
