Thank you very much for this overview of interfaces used in Austria! This could be very helpful, I will look into how we can include this information in our Wiki and/or Selection guide.

@gskjold will consider your PR when he is back from vacation.

There seems to be some errors in the table. I am for instance not able to find that there exists a Sagemcom model T216-D, so I think it is a misprint (should be T210-D). The same goes for Landis&Gyr E451.

We will add this meter to our selection guide:

  • Kaifa MA110M -> Pow-U with RJ12 cable.

Yeah, thats a typo in the document. I crosschecked with the DSOs documentation of the customer interface for Grid Lower Austria and the smart meter information for Styria (
218_13_SmartMeter_Kundenschnittstelle_2604_web.pdf
, https://www.e-netze.at/strom/smartmeter/Default.aspx)

Wouldn't the following Smartmeter CII be also compatible with the Pow-P1:

-) Siemens IM350 and IM150 (only in Carinthia) -> Pow-P1 with RJ12 cable
-) Iskra AM550E/AM550T (only in Carinthia)-> Pow-P1 with RJ calbe

But for the Wiener Netze smart meters a infradred/optical readout adapter (interface according to DIN EN 62056-21
) is nessescarry. Is it possible to connect a infrared/optical readout adapter to the Pow-hardware?

No, not via the optical port.
Are you sure the description of Siemens IM350 on Wiener Netze website is not a misprint?
The Kärnten Nezt User Manual for the IM350 describes the optical port to be a service port for the grid company, while the customer port is the socket below.
Does Siemens use the same model number IM350 on a meter that does not have a "real" user port?

I am pretty sure that the customer information interface (CII) of the Wiener Netze smart meters are via the infrared/optical interface. The Oesterreichs Energie document differentiates there as well (last column in the interface listing is for the infrared/optiacal interface). Maybe the difference between Kärnten Netz could be explained with different Firmware versions or Settings. I don’t understand why in Austria there are so many smart meter CIIs (MBus, P1, MEP, wMBus, Infrared/optical).

Yes, the Austrian situation is quite confusing.
And you might be right that the Siemens meters exist with same model number in two versions: With and without user HAN-port. So we will in the Selection Guide advise users to contact their grid company prior to ordering.
(Selection guide will be updated when my colleague is back from vacation.)
