Description

I've noticed that much of the time, the desktop's status indicator was simply wrong. Out of the gate, I assume this was a side effect of the fact that the indicator itself was total slop.

So, I went ahead and rewrote that entire chunk of the program, making it far more readable and maintainable in the process. It now maintains a correct reflection of the status of the local Harper service. In addition, I found and resolved an issue that would result in the Harper service running after the parent process had ended.
