Primary functions:
calculate: calculate statistical complexity of a string
calculate_bd: calculate the forwards, reverse and bi-directional statistical complexity of a string
binarise: take an array of continuous-numerical data (i.e. an array of floats) and convert it into a binary string of 0's and 1's
