Should easy maintenance of the CMakeLists.txt since it is the same syntax as the official command and silently applies the changes

Should easy maintenance of the CMakeLists.txt since it keeps the command
while allowing patching. Once patches are not needed anymore it can be removed
or disabled, and the CMakeLists.txt file works the same.
