This repository contains a version of DEMENTpy in which model components and processes (e.g. mutation, dispersal, boundary recycling, substrate regimes, and initialization schemes) can be selectively activated, deactivated, and combined to generate controlled simulation experiments. This version was developed by David Coulette in 2022.
This codebase has been used in two research projects:
- Abs et al. (2024, Ecology Letters), where evolutionary processes were explicitly enabled.
- A second study (currently submitted) that follows the MIMICS model structure and reproduces the experiments of Joly et al. (2023, Nature Ecology & Evolution).
Detailed documentation and model descriptions are available in the documentation/ folder.
