This includes a bugfix right? Should it be a minor version bump in case anyone who was on 0.27.0's dependency auto update doesn't pick up patch upgrades?

not totally sure what you mean, the semantic versioning of this checks out in my mind -- we're not making any minor updates, just a bugfix
