🔧 How It Works

ClaudeHistoryMCP operates as a local service on your Windows computer. It does not need internet access after installation. It moves your Claude Code conversations into an easy-to-search database on your PC.

The server follows the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for exchanging data. This ensures your data is handled in a structured way, improving search speed and accuracy.

🛠 Features Overview

  • Local Storage: Conversation histories remain private and saved on your computer. No data is sent out.
  • Quick Search: Instantly find messages by keyword across all conversations.
  • Session View: Easily browse organized sessions and see entire chat threads.
  • Lightweight: The program runs quietly in the background without slowing your PC.
  • User-Friendly: No configuration required; ready to use immediately after installation.

🔄 Updating ClaudeHistoryMCP

To keep the app working smoothly:

🗂 File Locations and Logs

By default, ClaudeHistoryMCP stores conversation data in the folder:
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\ClaudeHistoryMCP\data

Log files and settings can be found in:
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\ClaudeHistoryMCP\logs

These folders hold the data that powers the search and storage.

⚠️ Troubleshooting

  • If the program does not start: check that your Windows version matches requirements.
  • If the server fails to run, restart your computer and try again.
  • Make sure no other application is blocking the port used by ClaudeHistoryMCP (usually port 8080).
  • Restart ClaudeHistoryMCP after a failed attempt.
