Readme re-structuring looks good to me.
I have updated the release dates on .zenodo.json and CITATION.cff to 2025-12-18

I restructured the README in this commit to reduce redundancy (I scoped it so it can easily be reverted if you want). I also updated the resizing script so that it's easier for a downstream user to set their own base directories.
For the metadata, I updated the citation for a release tomorrow (can still be changed if needed). I also added the Zenodo metadata tracking file and the workflow that tests its format.
