Snyk has created this PR to fix 1 vulnerabilities in the yarn dependencies of this project.

Snyk changed the following file(s):

  • package.json

Note for zero-installs users

If you are using the Yarn feature zero-installs that was introduced in Yarn V2, note that this PR does not update the .yarn/cache/ directory meaning this code cannot be pulled and immediately developed on as one would expect for a zero-install project - you will need to run yarn to update the contents of the ./yarn/cache directory.
If you are not using zero-install you can ignore this as your flow should likely be unchanged.

⚠️ Warning
Failed to update the yarn.lock, please update manually before merging.

Summary of Changes

Hello @jimmyn, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request, automatically generated by Snyk, aims to enhance the project's security posture by upgrading the @vitest/coverage-v8 dependency. This update specifically targets and resolves a high-severity Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) vulnerability. While the package.json has been updated, users of Yarn's zero-install feature or those who rely on yarn.lock will need to manually update their lock file to fully incorporate these changes.

Highlights

  • Security Upgrade: Upgrades the @vitest/coverage-v8 dependency from version 3.0.8 to 4.0.0 to address a high-severity Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) vulnerability (SNYK-JS-ANSIREGEX-1583908).
  • Dependency Update: The package.json file has been modified to reflect the updated version of @vitest/coverage-v8.
  • Manual Intervention Required: A warning indicates that the yarn.lock file failed to update automatically and requires manual intervention before merging this pull request.

Code Review

This pull request from Snyk upgrades @vitest/coverage-v8 to fix a security vulnerability. However, this is a major version bump and introduces a potential incompatibility with your current vitest version (^3.0.8), which could break test coverage generation. I've left a comment on package.json recommending that you also upgrade the core vitest package to align versions. Additionally, as warned in the PR description, you will need to manually update your yarn.lock file before merging.

high

Upgrading @vitest/coverage-v8 to a new major version (4.0.0) while vitest remains on ^3.0.8 (see line 89) introduces a significant risk of incompatibility. Packages within the vitest ecosystem are typically released and versioned together, and a major version mismatch can cause your test coverage generation to fail.

To prevent potential build failures, it's strongly recommended to upgrade vitest to a compatible major version as well. You should consider upgrading vitest to ^4.0.0.

Please test the changes thoroughly after updating the dependencies and regenerating the yarn.lock file.

P1 Badge Update yarn.lock alongside dependency bump

The dependency range for @vitest/coverage-v8 was bumped to ^4.0.0, but yarn.lock still pins the package to 3.0.8. Any CI or developer environment running yarn install --frozen-lockfile will now fail because the lock file does not contain a resolution for the new range, and even without the flag the build will continue to install 3.0.8 so the vulnerability fix never takes effect. Please regenerate and commit the lock file so installs remain deterministic and the upgrade actually applies.
