This collection contains beginner-friendly projects from Connect Byte workshops. The projects mix hardware and software with creative technology. They are designed to teach basic skills step-by-step. You do not need any special knowledge to start.
The projects can help you learn how to build simple gadgets and programs. Each project focuses on practical skills you can follow along with. This makes it easy to understand how different parts work together.
- Windows 10 or later (64-bit preferred)
- At least 4 GB of RAM
- 500 MB of free disk space
- USB port for any hardware connection (if required by the project)
- Internet access to download files and updates
Make sure your computer meets these requirements before proceeding. This will help you avoid installation or performance issues.
You will download and run the software for these projects on your Windows computer. The steps below will guide you through the entire process.
Steps include:
- Accessing the download page
- Downloading the right files
- Running the programs
- Connecting hardware if needed
Follow each step carefully to ensure everything works smoothly.
Click this link or button to open the project releases page:
This page holds all available versions of the software and project files.
On the releases page, look for the most recent version at the top of the list. The latest version usually has the newest features and fixes.
Each release includes one or more files. You will find:
- An installer file (usually
.exe) for easy setup, or - A ZIP archive containing all necessary files.
Click on the file to start downloading. Save it somewhere you can find later, such as your Desktop or Downloads folder.
If you downloaded an .exe file:
Double-click it to start the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions. The installer will set up everything on your computer automatically.
If you downloaded a ZIP file:
Right-click the ZIP file and choose "Extract All" or use any extraction tool you have. This will create a new folder with all files ready to run.
Once installed or extracted, find the main application file:
- Look for a file named something like
connect-byte-projects.exeorstart.bat. - Double-click this file to start the program.
If your project includes hardware parts, make sure they are connected before launching the software.
The projects offer different ways to learn. Here are some common features you will find:
- Step-by-step instructions on how to build each project
- Simple user interfaces to control hardware devices
- Visual feedback to show what the project is doing
- Code examples you can try without previous experience
Inside the release you download, expect to see:
- The main program files needed to run each project
- Step-by-step guides in PDF or text format
- Sample code files for experimentation
- Hardware connection diagrams where needed
Follow the guides to set up hardware and run the projects.
- Save all files in a single folder to keep everything organized.
- Close other programs to free up computer resources.
- Read instructions fully before starting each project.
- If hardware is part of a project, connect cables carefully to avoid damage.
- Restart your computer if the program does not run smoothly.
If you run into issues, try these simple fixes:
- Check that your Windows version meets the requirements.
- Make sure you downloaded the full installer or all files from the ZIP.
- Run the program as an administrator by right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator."
- Disable antivirus software temporarily if it blocks the installer.
- Reboot the computer and try again.
If problems persist, look for help on the project’s GitHub page by opening issues or checking discussions.
