Introduction

Simple Context was a script released in early March 2021 allowing users to exert more control over the AI with simple commands for setting things like time and place. Simple Context 2 aims to drastically expand upon these features by providing users with a suite of new tools and a easy-to-use interface.

What is Context?

The term "context" here refers to both the narrative context of a user's story (setting, characters, and other relevant data) AND the text that the AI uses to create responses. While not necessary for using Simple Context 2, being aware of the latter's memory limitations and structure can significantly enhance the utility of the script.

What's with the Emojis?

Simple Context 2 features an minimalist emoji-based interface for ease of use.

Much of the interface is completely customizable (emojis included), and the whole thing can be minimized or even hidden from view if desired. Most commands and the bulk of SC2's functionality can be enjoyed without any visual elements or interruption to play. And if emojis aren't your thing, you can even replace them with plain text.

Detailed menu navigation instructions for more advanced features and customization can be found on their respective pages.

Installation

To download the latest stable version of Simple Context 2, head over to the releases page here! Once the zip file has downloaded, head over to AI Dungeon, navigate to My Stuff, and create a new scenario.

Scroll to the bottom of the Edit Scenario page and click on the Scripts button. Look at the top right of the Scripts page and click on this icon: Upload Script Icon A window should pop up asking for you to upload the script. Simply navigate to where you downloaded the zip file earlier and select it, uploading the entire zip itself. Once that's done, just click the save icon: image

You're done! Go back to your Scenario and hit play!

How to Play

First make sure that the script is installed (see above) and that you are in Play mode. Once you are playing your adventure, navigate to the bottom of the screen where you see the input field. As Simple Context 2 is controlled entirely with text commands, it is important to familiarize yourself with this interface: Simply type a command and hit enter or click submit.

To test that the script is working, try creating your first note by inputting +My First Note: This is fun!. You should see some text appear on the top right of the screen:

Your first note

+My First Note#300: This is fun!

You can then delete the note by inputting +My First Note.

That's all there is to it! Well, there's actually plenty to dig your teeth into if you're hungry for more. You can learn about notes in more detail on the next page What are Notes?. If you want, you can /hide or /minimize the user interface or change script settings with /config. Have fun!
