PluraGate

Non-Profit Infrastructure for Knowledge Equity

About PluraGate

PluraGate is a non-profit foundation dedicated to building, maintaining, and protecting open, community-governed data platforms that support civic data. We believe that knowledge infrastructure should not be owned by private monopolies. Instead, we ensure these platforms remain transparent, accessible, and guided by the communities they serve—forever.

Our Mission

We incubate and steward resilient systems for evidence, memory, and pluralism. Our core commitment is to guarantee that critical knowledge infrastructures are:

  • Open-source – All code and governance structures are publicly available
  • Transparent – Fostering trust in data and research
  • Community-governed – Guided by the communities they serve
  • Designed to outlast – Built to endure beyond any single organization or entity

Projects

SyriaHub

SyriaHub is our flagship open-source knowledge platform dedicated to documenting Syria's past, present, and future through verified research and structured evidence.

Key Features:

  • Collaborative Research Commons – A shared space for contributing to Syrian knowledge, context, and memory for post-conflict reconstruction
  • Mobile-First Design – Minimalist and accessible, built with modern technology (Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Supabase)
  • Structured Datasets & Maps – Developing modules for maps, boundaries, and structured datasets for evidence-based research
  • Editorial Independence – Retains editorial autonomy while receiving organizational and technical support from PluraGate

Our Values

  • Knowledge Equity – Ensuring open access to critical information
  • Community Governance – Platforms are guided by those they serve
  • Transparency – Open codebases and governance structures
  • Resilience – Building systems designed to outlast us
  • Pluralism – Supporting diverse perspectives and evidence
