Codebase Functionality Audit - Document Index

Overview

Complete analysis of code-executor-mcp functionality relevant to CLI implementation. This audit identifies what exists, what can be reused, and what needs to be built.

Scope: /home/alexandrueremia/projects/code-executor-mcp/src (all TypeScript files) Date: 2025-11-18 Status: ✅ Complete

Quick Navigation

If you want to...

Get started quickly → Read FUNCTIONALITY-SUMMARY.txt (15 min)

Understand architecture deeply → Read CODEBASE-FUNCTIONALITY-AUDIT.md (45 min)

Copy-paste working code → Read CLI-REUSE-GUIDE.md (30 min)

Find exact file locations → See CODEBASE-FUNCTIONALITY-AUDIT.md Section 10 or FUNCTIONALITY-SUMMARY.txt

Understand a specific component → Use quick search in audit files:

  • File system: Search for "File System Operations"
  • Config: Search for "Configuration Management"
  • Locking: Search for "Lock File Management"
  • Audit: Search for "Audit Logging"

Key Findings Summary

✅ READY TO REUSE (Production-Ready)

Component Location Effort Reusability
Audit Logger src/audit-logger.ts 10 min ✅ High
Config Discovery src/config-discovery.ts 5 min ✅ High
Path Validation src/utils.ts 5 min ✅ High
Config Validation src/config-types.ts 5 min ✅ High

⚠️ REUSE WITH CAUTION

Component Location Issue Effort
Schema Cache src/schema-cache.ts Reference only 15 min
AsyncLock patterns Multiple files Single-process only Varies

❌ MUST BUILD NEW

Component Why Effort Priority
PID-based locking Not in codebase 45 min High
Config file write Not in codebase 20 min High
Backup service Not in codebase 30 min Medium

Usage Examples

Copy AuditLogger

import { AuditLogger } from '../src/audit-logger';
const logger = new AuditLogger();
await logger.log({ timestamp, correlationId, eventType, status });

Copy ConfigDiscovery

import { ConfigDiscoveryService } from '../src/config-discovery';
const config = await new ConfigDiscoveryService().findConfig();

Build PID Lock

See: CLI-REUSE-GUIDE.md → "Missing 2: PID-Based Locking"

Build Config Write

See: CLI-REUSE-GUIDE.md → "Missing 1: Config File Write"
