🚨 Severity: MEDIUM (Security Hardening)

💡 Vulnerability:
The application lacked a form-action directive in its Content Security Policy, and the dynamically created close button used the default button type (which is submit in many contexts), potentially leading to unintended form submissions or providing an avenue for data exfiltration if the application were to grow.

🎯 Impact:
These changes provide defense-in-depth by strictly controlling form submission behavior and ensuring interactive elements behave predictably, reducing the attack surface for certain XSS and injection-related exploits.

🔧 Fix:

  • Added form-action 'none' to the CSP meta tag in index.html.
  • Updated the dynamically created close button to explicitly set type = 'button'.
  • Refactored the close button's event handling from onclick to addEventListener.
  • Recalculated and updated the SHA-256 hash for the inline script in the CSP script-src directive to ensure the script is not blocked by the browser.

Verification:
Functionality and security were verified using a Playwright script that confirmed:

  • The success notification triggers and closes correctly.
  • No Content Security Policy violations are reported in the browser console.
  • Visual state remains consistent with UX requirements.
