A fork of xmrcheckout adapted for Wownero. Non-custodial Wownero checkout software for merchants. Payments go directly from the customer to the merchant wallet.
wowcheckout is open source and self-hostable. It creates invoices, shows payment instructions, and watches the chain for incoming payments using view-only wallet access (address + secret view key). It can also notify your systems via API and webhooks.
Hard rules:
- It never requests or stores private spend keys.
- It never signs transactions.
- It never moves funds on behalf of users.
- View-only access (wallet address + private view key) is the maximum trust boundary.

If you want Wownero payments to go straight to your own wallet, this is for you.
Common fits:
- A merchant who wants a clean hosted checkout UI (self-hosted by you).
- A team that wants API + webhooks to plug into an existing order flow.
- Anyone who prefers a conservative trust model (view-only access for detection).
Typical flow:
- Your integration creates an invoice (defined in WOW).
- The UI shows payment instructions (address + amount).
- The system observes the chain using view-only wallet access to detect payments and update invoice status.
- Optional integrations (for example webhooks) can be used to trigger your internal order flow.
Not included (by design):
- It does not provide custody, refunds, or any fund-moving automation.
- It does not act as a financial intermediary.
- It does not touch fiat rails in the core system.
- Funds always move from the customer to the merchant wallet; wowcheckout only observes the chain and reports status.
- You keep spend authority. The maximum permission level wowcheckout uses is view-only wallet access (wallet address + private view key).
- If any configuration or integration implies spend authority, treat it as a misconfiguration and stop.
WOW/USD rates are derived in two steps:
The final rate is WOW-BTC × BTC/USD. Both values are cached briefly (60s for WOW-BTC, 30s for BTC/USD) to avoid excessive API calls.
The file and folder structure is kept identical to xmrcheckout to make upstream syncing easy. Key content differences:

The default Docker Compose config exposes nginx on port 8180 on the host. If you run wowcheckout alongside xmrcheckout on the same server, there is no port conflict — each app has its own Docker network with separate nginx, API, and database containers bound to different host ports (xmrcheckout on 8080, wowcheckout on 8180).

In the default Compose configuration, only nginx is published to the host. The API, Postgres, and wallet-rpc services are reachable only inside the Docker network.
If you prefer not to run nginx, you can publish ui and api ports directly instead (you will also need to serve qr/ at /qr/ on your site URL).

wowcheckout can send BTCPay-compatible webhooks when invoice status changes (e.g., payment confirmed on-chain). Configure webhooks per-merchant via the admin panel or merchant dashboard.
If the webhook target is on the same LAN and Docker containers cannot resolve its hostname (NAT hairpinning), add extra_hosts to the reconciler service in docker-compose.yml:

The UI uses the same flag (via Compose), so /donate stays unavailable unless donations are explicitly enabled.
This section describes running the services directly on a host (or VMs) without Docker.
You will run:

- The UI makes some in-browser requests to
/api/...on the same origin. In production, prefer a reverse proxy that serves the UI and forwards/api/to the API. - The QR PNGs are written to

Nginx is optional. Any reverse proxy that can:

The admin panel lets you manage merchants (create, view, delete) without touching the database directly.
Set ADMIN_API_KEY in .env (generate with openssl rand -base64 32 | tr -d '=' | head -c 32).
Visit /admin in your browser and enter the admin API key to log in.
From the admin panel you can:
- View all registered merchants and their invoice counts
- Create new merchants by entering their Wownero primary address and secret view key
- View a merchant's API key and webhook secret (shown once on creation, also viewable in detail)
- Delete a merchant and all associated data (invoices, webhooks, etc.)
All endpoints require the X-Admin-Key header set to your ADMIN_API_KEY.

Merchants log in at the homepage with their primary address + secret view key. They can only see their own store — invoices, webhooks, and profile settings. They have no access to other merchants' data or admin functions.
