Snakes and Ladders — Chaos Edition
This is a multi‑board, sound‑driven reimagining of a classic game. It is designed for two players, each with their own board.
Snakes and Ladders — Chaos Edition is a modern, playful, and slightly unhinged take on the traditional board game. Built in C# with a modular, data‑driven architecture, it features multiple themed boards, a CSV‑driven action engine, dynamic sound effects, and the wonderfully unpredictable Chaos Zone, a board with a personality of its own.
Progress across the boards follows the familiar snakes‑and‑ladders rules, but with added portal squares that transport players between worlds. Board position is preserved during transitions, and players can win from any board. The transitions add excitement without extending game time.
Boards Included:
Traditional Snakes and Ladders
The Snake Pit — a higher ratio of snakes to ladders
Spaceworld — a sci‑fi themed board
Prehistoric World — featuring a large dinosaur
Spiderman’s World — comic hero theme
Monster Truck — Halloween‑styled monster truck board
Chaos Zone — snakes, ladders, and portals are hidden; movement is erratic; many deadpan comments and sound effects
Upside Down World — snakes are good, ladders are bad
Players may also be allocated tokens. These can be spent to pass the number rolled on the die to the opponent. This can be used to avoid a snake, force the opponent onto one, or take another chance at landing on a big ladder.
