Alec Rees

Product developer and creative technologist building native mobile, web and music-technology products. I am the founder of Metopida Ltd and the product developer behind Metopus.

My work spans product strategy, UX and original visual design, implementation, integration, documentation and practical testing. I currently work across Android/Kotlin, iOS/Swift, React/TypeScript, Rust/WebAssembly and Supabase/PostgreSQL.

Featured Project

Metopus

Metopus is an artist and fan platform developed through Metopida Ltd. It grew from roughly two decades of first-hand music-industry experience and three years of product research, prototyping and development.

The production repositories remain private because they contain commercial product logic, backend and security work, unpublished assets and protected implementation. The public case study provides reviewable technical evidence without exposing that material.

Other Public Work

  • Alec Rees portfolio: custom responsive portfolio covering software, web, educational content, interactive media and production work
  • Metopida Ltd: company site for web, mobile, product-development and creative-technology work
  • Metopus: live public product website and WebGPU/WASM visual work

Technologies

Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Swift, SwiftUI, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Next.js, Vite, HTML, CSS, Rust, WebAssembly, Supabase, PostgreSQL, Cloudflare, Flutter, p5.js and the Web Audio API.

How I Work

I use AI-assisted development tools as part of a modern build workflow: planning, prototyping, implementation support, debugging, testing and refactoring. I remain responsible for product direction, architecture decisions, review, integration and final quality.

I am particularly interested in work where technical clarity matters: turning ambiguous ideas into structured workflows, building usable interfaces, testing across devices, and explaining complex systems clearly.
