Manual Control

To initially test the Motors and ESC, the boat is controlled by the transmitter and bypasses the Autonomous system. The battery is directly connected to the ESCs, and the ESC leads are directly connected to the receiver. Differential thrust is programmed into the transmitter. The autopilot is not in the loop, either via wiring or software.

To switch between manual and autonomous mode:

  • Disconnect the receiver from the autopilot ('battery' connection)
  • Connect the ESCs to the receiver (Throttle: Center, AIRL: Left, Rudder: Right)
  • Change the model in the transmitter to "Boat" (Should be the first model)
  • Re-bind the receiver to the transmitter. DX8 stores model information in the receiver, if the models do not matach, the receiver will not activate.

The center motor is connected to the Throttle output The Left motor is connected to the Gear (GER) output The Right motor is connected to the Auxiliary 1 (AX2) output

Differential thrust is programmed via the following Mix settings:

For Mix1: THR > GER

  • Rate: 100%, 0%
  • Offset: -100%
  • Trim: Inh
  • Sw: On

For Mix2: THR > AX1

  • Rate: -100%, 0%
  • Offset: -100%
  • Trim: Inh
  • Sw: On

For Mix3: RUD > AX1

  • Rate: -100%, -100%
  • Offset: 0%
  • Trim: Inh
  • Sw: On

For Mix4: RUD > AX1

  • Rate: -100%, -100%
  • Offset: 0%
  • Trim: Inh
  • Sw: On
