Broccoli - journalism mindmapper

Screenshot 2026-01-30 at 12 13 48

A basic, single page mind-mapping app for journalism students.

  • Basic nodes geared to journalism including sources, contacts
  • Export to a structured Word file with contacts, references to use as the framework for documentation.
  • Save, load maps
  • Single HTML file. No local dependencies. Designed to work within a VLE

You can load some demo data to test the features using the Broccoli_Map_30-01-2026.json You can see a working demo at https://journalism.cards/broccoli/ with a demo button where you can load in data to see how it works

Notes

The mobile friendly aspects are a bit flakey at the moment.

Credits

Based on an idea by Dr Liz Hannaford, the principle is simple - when you're trying to be healthy, a whole stem of broccoli can put you off. Too much effort! Cut it into chunks and suddenly those healthy habits look easier.

Broccoli was coded, in part, using AI.
