Larger models provide longer suggestions.
You do not need to keep the app window open for it to work. It runs in the background. Open your text editor or web browser. Begin typing as you normally do. Once you pause, the app displays a light gray suggestion. Press the Tab key to accept the suggestion. The app fills in the rest of the text for you. If you do not like the suggestion, ignore it and keep typing. The app learns your style over time.

The app uses your computer hardware to process text. This ensures your data stays on your machine. No text leaves your computer unless you explicitly allow it. This process makes the typing tool fast and private.
If the app does not suggest text, check your taskbar. Make sure the icon is visible and glowing green. A gray icon means the app is paused. Click the icon to resume activity. If you have trouble with performance, go to the settings menu. Change the AI model to a lighter version. This frees up memory for other tasks on your computer.
If the installer asks for permissions, click Yes. The app needs these rights to inject text into your other windows. This action allows the app to communicate with your keyboard input. No sensitive passwords or bank information get recorded. The app only looks at the current window to generate helpful text suggestions.
Does this work in all applications? The app works in most text-based programs. This includes word processors, email clients, and web browsers. Some secure applications may block the app for safety reasons.
Can I stop the suggestions? Yes. Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+K to toggle the app on or off. This allows you to pause the AI when you want to write without help.
Is my data private? The app runs entirely on your local hardware. No cloud servers process your personal typing. All data remains inside your system storage.
Does it require a subscription? No. KeyType is open-source software. All features are free to use. You download the latest version from the official GitHub link provided.
