dm.ai has ADO built in client and Report abstraction to build reports and generate metrics in the nice html view. I would suggest to use that and just connect ADO specific metrics there. And if something doesn't work via the abstraction then you should extend the java code.

Created new folder ado_metrics, inside we have added python script, which will help to generate metrics from ADO board.
