So I attempted to AI upscale the logo image but making it a logo.png compresses it again, regardless you can still see the original upscaled image in the git history

i cant find a .svg but i found https://github.com/hyperdivision/vhs-tape/blob/master/VHS-TAPE.sketch
are all of those creative commons / public domain?

I don't have a clue; if you can open the Sketch file, you could probably export it to SVG.
