We have added some custom steps to the installer when using the DEIMS profile:

Optional DEIMS Enhancements

This page shows any non-enabled modules that have package = DEIMS Enhacements in their .info file. This provides the user with the ability to easily enable optional features without being overloaded by the modules page. Be sure to use a good description in the .info file since it is used to describe what the module does and should explain why someone would want to enable that feature on their DEIMS site.
