There was an issue building mlc-llm from source with newer CMAKE versions (specifically 4.1.2). This is due to removal of compatibility with CMAKE features below 3.5. The underlying repositories had already been bumped by maintainers, so this is a basic bump. For msgpack, I updated to the latest master-cpp branch, and for sentencepiece, i bumped to master.

I've tested by building mlc-llm from source using this version of tokenizers-cpp, and it worked with no issues.

Summary of Changes

Hello @babusid, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request resolves a critical build failure encountered when compiling mlc-llm from source with recent CMake versions. By updating the msgpack and sentencepiece submodules to their latest respective master branches, the underlying compatibility issues with CMake 3.5+ features are resolved, ensuring successful compilation of the project.

Highlights

  • msgpack submodule update: The msgpack submodule has been updated from commit 8c602e8579c7e7d65d6f9c6703c9699db3fb0488 to 092bc69b6e815980bce7808595c914dd3a29f905, aligning with the latest master-cpp branch.
  • sentencepiece submodule update: The sentencepiece submodule has been updated from commit f2219b53e24ff5deee4cacdc2d0ca3074e529a07 to 11051e3b73b3a6222a52acd720e39805dc7545ab, reflecting the latest master branch.
  • CMake compatibility fix: These submodule updates resolve build issues with newer CMake versions (specifically 4.1.2) by addressing compatibility removals for CMake features below version 3.5, ensuring mlc-llm can be built from source.

Code Review

This pull request updates the msgpack and sentencepiece submodules to resolve a build issue with newer CMake versions. The changes are straightforward submodule commit bumps. While the updates fix the immediate problem, my review suggests pinning the submodules to specific release tags instead of branch heads (like master or master-cpp) to improve long-term stability and reproducibility of the build. This is a common best practice for managing dependencies.
