On tiling window managers the WM owns window geometry and placement, so the app resizing itself to fit a freshly loaded video fights with the WM. On some compositors like niri the resize request is actually honored and the window jumps to a new size out of nowhere, which is jarring. The platform layer already knows when the WM owns geometry, so use that to skip the automatic resize-on-video-load there. The manual "resize to video" menu action stays available for people who still want it.
