Follow up to #20 to try and resolve build related issues.
What this PR does / why we need it:
Releasing this fork because upstream no longer maintains 1.10.x, but the release branch is missing this fix.
The previously released 1.10.7 is missing this bump needed to support Kubernetes 1.35 upgrades.
