Our wikidata instances contain the original, non-simplified, data. The update stream contains data simplified for the WDQS. We have to undo the simplification to get correct updates.
@hannahbast this is reason 1 for the update block clustering. It is not a bug, but the simplifications for the WDQS that are causing problems here.
