This guide walks you through downloading, installing, and running PhDuo on a Windows PC. No programming knowledge is needed.
- Windows 10 or later
- At least 4 GB of free disk space
- Minimum 8 GB RAM recommended for smooth operation
- Internet connection for website crawling and updates
PhDuo does not require complicated installation. You can easily get it from the official GitHub releases page.

Step 1: Go to the PhDuo releases page:

Step 2: Find the latest version of PhDuo for Windows. It usually comes as an executable (.exe) installer file.

Step 3: Click the file to download it to your PC.

- Locate the downloaded file, usually in your "Downloads" folder.
- Double-click the file to start the installation process.
- Follow the on-screen prompts:
- Accept the license agreement.

- Click “Install” and wait for the process to complete.
- Click “Finish” once the installation is done.
PhDuo is now ready to use.
- Open PhDuo from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
- The main screen will prompt you to upload your CV. Supported formats are PDF and DOCX.
- Upload your CV file from your computer.
- PhDuo will then ask for the professor’s profile or website URL. The app will automatically crawl up to 10 pages of the professor’s website to gather information.
- Wait while PhDuo processes the data. This may take a few minutes.
- After analysis, the app will show you a detailed report that includes:
- Compatibility score
- Research alignment
- Mentorship style fit
- Risk factors and gap analysis
- Recommendations to improve your profile
The report screen organizes all the information clearly. You can:
- Save the report as a PDF to share or review later.
- Compare multiple professors by uploading different URLs.
