Well, I can't think of a good reason not to do this, so I guess it's time.
The engine isn't done, but it isn't unfinished either: major version it is. This doesn't mean that the APIs won't change, but it does mean that changing the APIs will bump the major version. Probably we'll got for a V8-like versioning system where every few months a new version is bumped.
