Operation Extraction

Hey there!

Welcome to Operation Extraction, a chaotic, fast-paced surgical game where you’re not just saving lives—you’re also harvesting organs and selling them on the black market. I’m William, and I’m here to give you a quick rundown of what the game’s about and what you can expect when you dive in.

What’s the Game About?

In Operation Extraction, you play as a doctor in a clinic, performing random surgeries on patients who probably deserve better. The surgeries are different each time—one moment you're removing a tumor, the next, you’re pulling out a lung. But here’s where it gets interesting: you can also harvest organs to make a little extra cash on the side. You’ll have to be quick, though, since each surgery has a strict time limit of 5 minutes, and there are plenty of things that can go wrong.

Quick Summary:

  • Perform random surgeries with different challenges every time.
  • Upgrade your tools over time, starting with a rusty scalpel and eventually getting better gear like bone saws.
  • Deal with quick-time events (QTEs) that throw curveballs your way, from rhythm games to CPR to patients waking up mid-surgery.
  • Harvest organs and sell them to shady buyers for cash, but be careful—doing this reduces the time you have to finish the surgery.
  • Compete on a leaderboard to see how fast you can complete surgeries and beat others.
  • Watch out for police raids—you’ll need to hide your black market dealings or risk getting caught.

What You’ll Do

You start out with the bare minimum: a rusty scalpel, a basic operating room, and patients that come in with all kinds of issues. You have to perform surgery within the 5-minute time limit, but there’s always a catch. Random quick-time events can pop up at any time, throwing you off your game.

Here are a few examples:

  • Rhythm Game: Follow prompts to stabilize the patient’s vitals.
  • CPR/Heartbeat Management: Keep their heart going by syncing with the rhythm.
  • Wake-Up Call: Patients might wake up in the middle of surgery. You can sedate them again (the smart way), or knock them out (not so smart but faster). Punching them, though, costs you precious time.
  • Animal Surprise: There’s a 5% chance that the patient isn’t even human… sometimes it’s a dog!

Organ Harvesting

This is where things get dark. You can choose to harvest organs from your patients and sell them on the black market. But every organ you take reduces the time you have to finish the surgery, so there’s a risk. The quality of the organs matters too—botch the surgery, and those organs won’t be worth much. Once the surgery’s done, pack up the organs in a cooler, walk out to the back alley, and meet up with some shady figures in ski masks. They’ll hand you a nice stack of cash in exchange.

Of course, every now and then the police might come knocking, so you’ll need to be quick to hide the evidence!

Upgrades & Progression

At the start, your tools are pretty terrible. But with the money you make from surgeries and selling organs, you can upgrade your gear. You’ll move from a run-down, sketchy office to a high-end clinic with top-tier equipment. Buy better scalpels, stronger patient restraints, and more efficient tools. This isn’t just for fun—it makes surgeries faster and easier, which is key if you want to top the leaderboards.

Easter Eggs & Achievements

We’ve packed the game with hidden surprises and achievements for those who love to explore:

  • Find Easter eggs, like a rubber ducky instead of an organ during surgery.
  • Discover secret codes and unlockable content. (There's no morse code in the heart-rate monitor...)
  • The game even includes a cheeky nod to the classic "Operation" board game, tucked away in the background somewhere.

Controls & Setup

  • Mouse & Keyboard: Standard controls for surgeries and QTEs.
  • Controller Support: Fully supported, with smooth controls for all the hectic action.

What’s Next?

We’re still working on some things, like tweaking the difficulty of the mini-games and adding more Easter eggs, but what we’ve got is already shaping up to be a wild, unique experience.

Credits

This game wouldn’t be possible without:

  • Nicholas Sheppard – The absolute mastermind behind the 3D models and environment design. Nick didn't just stop there; we teamed up to build a custom controller for this game from scratch; an insane task that he tackled with precision and creativity. The game wouldn’t look and feel anywhere near as amazing without his artistic and technical genius.
  • Alexandre Genest – Our programming wizard who solved every problem we threw at him with insane skill and determination. Alex didn’t just code; he created. He’s the backbone of this entire operation—seriously, we wouldn’t have a functioning game without him.
  • Gabriel Roy-Manningham – The ultimate jack-of-all-trades, who helped with all the in-between. He definitely helped bring this wild project together.
  • William Cielen – The project manager who kept the chaos organized. He recorded the vast majority of voice lines for the game, modeled the patient you are dissecting as well as built and programmed a custom controller for the game with Nick's help.

The team that put their hearts (and maybe some livers) into making this crazy idea a reality!

Thanks for checking out Operation Extraction, and I hope you have as much fun playing it as we did making it.
