Narrative Structure

In close future mankind has developed the sufficient technology to conquer space. Even tough humans have developed such advanced pieces of technology the future of mankind is in great danger, as the Earth has been attacked by a mysterious alien force. To finally end this war, humans develop the two most advanced spaceships with the most powerful weapons ever created in a hope to repel the alien threat forever.

Level Analysis

In all levels the player encounters score bonuses and power-ups. The ship losses a life if it touches an enemy projectile, enemy ship or the level walls. Every level have a mix of the 22 first shown on the Game Analysis section, and some new enemies added on each stage. Most of the enemies are from this first. Level 3, Alien, is an exception. It has a special set of enemies with organic like shapes. All enemies are shown on the table.Each level counts with 20 to 25 different types of enemies counting the sub-boss and boss.

The game consists of 7 levels:

  1. The moon:

The moon

The space ships travel through the moon surface, entering one of its craters and going out to fight the boss. The moon is an easy level that helps getting used to the controls and the game mechanics. Enemies projectile and ship movement requires that the player moves continuously in the screen without hitting anything. Enemy ships appear from different positions, encouraging to test all different laser types. The movement of the screen is almost straight helping the player to get use to stay inside the levels boundaries.

  1. Mechanized unit:

Mechanised Unit

The inside of a machine like scenario. The ship encounters waves of enemy ships and turrets. The camera goes down in an elevator and then faces an enemy sub-boss machine. Continuing until finding the boss. Mechanized unit is a level with an intermediate difficulty, there are more enemies and requires the player to focus and understand the uses of laser types to continue with ease. The level walls start changing, the ship must move to dodge pillars without hitting the level walls.

  1. Alien:

Alien

Straight moving level with organic like scenario with parasite enemies and boss. Alien level has a high difficulty. The player must move inside a narrow space, with level walls that change sizes avoiding touching them. Enemies are totally new with unexpected movement and firing patterns.

  1. Caven:

Caven

Cavern scenario with regular enemy ships. Flying through the cave, Fighting a big sub-boss enemy ship, until arriving to a train like boss. Caven level has and intermediate level difficulty, with some new enemy ships and new moving patterns for known enemies. Movement is limited by cavern boundaries and rocky spikes.

  1. Meteorite

Meteorite

Space scenario with asteroids. Meteorite level has an intermediate difficulty. At this level the player encounters a few new enemies. Ship movement is limited by moving asteroids which the player needs to shoot or dodge.

  1. Secret Base

Secret Base

The ship infiltrates a secret base through a rocky cavern, reaching the base and its boss. Secret base has a high difficulty. Most enemies are known with a new few exceptions that require the player to stay alert. Enemy waves are numerous needing a high skilled pilot. The ships movement is limited by the rocks of the cavern until reaching the secret base where its easier to maneuver.

  1. Core

Core level

Last level, the ship arrives at the enemy base an infiltrates to its center destroying the base core. Later the player evacuates the base and encounters the final boss. Core level has a high difficulty level, that requires the player to have knowledge of enemies, movements and laser types to make his way through waves of enemies, dodging obstacles and projectiles. The movement is really limited and the camera moves around in different directions. Its a long level with difficult sub-boss and boss. This level requires skills and precision.

Gameplay

Movement

The camera (game's screen) moves through the map pushing the player with it, horizontally to the right most of the time. Inside the camera area the player has free movement in all directions, except, of course, for the areas occupied by obstacles, enemies, or enemy attacks, which would result in death.

Shooting

The ship has 4 different powers and a different variant of 3 of them (yellow power doesn't change) in each of the 4 power sets known as "types". Powers can level up to be stronger. Each type has an special attack known as "Weapon" that can be charged and shot, wasting 1 blue power level on activation (if possible). Dying decreases all power levels by 1, but with a minimum level of 0 for all powers, except for blue which is 1.

Powers

Blue (Max level: 7): Main weapon type, always available and will fire every time you press the fire button and is the player's main offensive tool. All shots from this power start their trajectory from the player ship's cabin (front).

Orange (Max level: 5): Secondary weapon type, mainly used to damage enemies above and/or below the player's ship (diagonally too). It's not a shot per button press, so it has less fire rate than the blue power. All shots from this power start their trajectory from the player ship's center.

Yellow (Max level: 8): Automated seeking missiles, it fires missiles that automatically track enemies, there can only be 3 on the air at the same time. All shots from this power start their trajectory from the player ship's center.

Level Up: Missiles deal more damage. This upgrade appears at level 3 and 5.

Green (Max level: 8): Shields positions and movements, they follow the player's ship (with a slight delay) and stop incoming damage.

Level Up: Each level grants 5 damage points to resist before a level is lost. Damage points can be projectiles and enemies (on contact), and their damage equivalent would be the life points they have left. This upgrade appears on all levels, but the shields start as color red, change to green at level 2, to yellow at level 4, and back to green at level 6.

When gaining the first level, the shields will appear and do a large spin animation around the player's ship before getting into their positions depending on the current type equipped.

Type-1

Blue (Normal): Blue bullets that move horizontally to the right.

Level Up: Adds more bullets or more damage per bullet (bigger bullet), both increase the effect area.

Orange (Fintael): Missiles stay close above or below the player's ship for a brief moment, then launch to the right making a diagonal trajectory downwards or upwards.

Level Up: Adds more missiles. One moving diagonally down at level 1, one added moving up at level 2, and 1 added both above and below at level 4.

Green (Rolling): The shields circle around the player, each at the opposite side of the other.

Rolling

Special Attack Weapon: Two blue balls move vertically from the current position of the player's ship, one upwards and the other downwards, each shooting a giant blue bullet, that moves horizontally to the right, 3 times before stopping and disappearing. The giant bullets damage enemies on impact, and a total of 6 balls appear (3 firing cycles with a short time interval between them).

Blue (Reverse): Orange bullets that are shot on a straight line both to the rear (left) of the ship and the front (right).

Level Up: Adds more bullets or more damage per bullet (bigger bullet), added new paths to the rear (left) with enough level.

Orange (Hawk): Bombs that move in a straight line above or below the player's ship, vertically or diagonally to the right.

Level Up: Adds more bombs. One moving vertically down at level 1, one added moving up at level 2, and 1 added both above and below at level 4 moving diagonally forwards (to the right).

Green (Side): The shields defend the top and bottom of the player's ship in a vertical formation.

Side

Special Attack Weapon: A barrage of bullets that fire to two different directions: to the rear (left) of the player covering a cone-shaped area and to the front (right) following two diagonal straight lines, damaging all enemies that the bullets hit.

Type-3

Blue (Laser): Green short laser beams that move on a straight line, but which direction and amount changes depending on the level.

Level Up: Adds more beams or more damage per beam (bigger/thicker beam), some levels add or change firing paths. The level 1 beam does 2 damage points, but is reduced to 1 per beam at level 2 (until it increases with more levels).

Orange (Normal): Bombs that move up or down from the player's ship with a curved trajectory.

Level Up: Adds more bombs. One moving down forwards (right) at level 1, one added moving up forwards at level 2, and 1 added both above and below moving backwards (left) at level 4.

Green (Front): The shields defend the front (right) of the player's ship in a vertical formation.

Front

Special Attack Weapon: Three green straight-lined thunderbolts that spin within a radius around the player, damaging any enemy they touch.

Blue (Way): White bullets that move to the right within a cone shape.

Level Up: Adds more bullets or more damage per bullet (curved bullet), both increase the effect area.

Orange (Laser): Green short laser beams that move on a straight line upwards or diagonally to the rear (left) from the player's ship.

Level Up: Adds more lasers. Two, one moving vertically up and the other down at level 1, two more added moving diagonally backwards at level 2.

Green (Rear): The shields defend the back (left) of the player's ship in a vertical formation.

Rear

Special Attack Weapon: Two consecutive bursts of short explosions that start on the player's ship and continue to the front (right), damaging all enemies on hit in a cone-shaped area.

In the following grid there's information about each enemy. In order to see what the score that each enemy awards the player, there is a bar at the end of the grid, with which you can scroll through all the different columns.

Items

All move around the screen in a diagonal pattern and bounce on the screen edges, 25 seconds after spawning they go through them.

Controls

The player may move the ship in all directions using the required keys to go up, down, left or right. The controls allow the ship to also move in diagonal directions.

One assigned button is set to fire all weapons on every press while the other button is to change between weapon sets (types).

Tutorial

If the blue power level is higher than 1, the player can charge an special attack holding the fire button and open fire ,when fully charged, releasing it.
